I am facing the “No Storage Bin Found” error during putaway processing in SAP EWM.

The inbound delivery is created successfully and the warehouse task creation process starts, but the system cannot determine a destination storage bin. Because of this, the warehouse task is not created or the putaway process remains incomplete.

In some cases, the storage type is determined, but no suitable bin is found inside that storage type. In other cases, the system does not determine any storage type at all.

I would like to understand the root cause and troubleshooting steps for this issue.

Please help with the following points:

How does SAP EWM determine the destination storage type and storage bin during putaway?

What is the role of warehouse process type, putaway control indicator, storage type search sequence, and putaway rule?

How can we check whether the correct storage type search sequence is determined?

What happens if the storage type is not assigned to the warehouse process type?

How do storage section search, bin type, capacity check, mixed storage, and addition to existing stock affect bin determination?

Can blocked bins, full bins, empty-bin search settings, or storage bin master data cause this error?

How can we identify whether the issue is related to product master data, warehouse product data, or EWM configuration?

Which transaction codes and
/SCWM/MON
nodes should be checked for detailed error analysis?

How can we test storage bin determination before creating a warehouse task?

What are the most common real-time project mistakes that cause the “No Storage Bin Found” error?

A step-by-step troubleshooting guide with SAP EWM configuration paths, transaction codes, and a practical example would be very helpful.

I am working on an SAP EWM inbound process where the inbound delivery is successfully distributed from ERP to EWM and the warehouse request is visible.

However, when I try to create Warehouse Tasks (WT), the system does not create any tasks, even though configuration and master data appear to be correct.

Scenario:

Inbound delivery is visible in
/SCWM/MON

Warehouse number is correctly assigned

Putaway strategy is maintained

Warehouse process type is determined

Storage type and bin determination look correct

No clear error message is displayed

Issue:
Despite everything looking correct, the warehouse task is not created for putaway.

My Question:
What are the most common configuration or master data issues that can cause warehouse task not to be created after inbound delivery in SAP EWM?
Which settings should be checked first in this scenario?

The Inbound Process in SAP EWM manages the movement of goods from suppliers or production into the warehouse — covering every step from Goods Receipt (GR) to final putaway into storage bins. It ensures that materials are correctly received, inspected, and stored in the right locations. The process typically starts in SAP ERP or S/4HANA, where an Inbound Delivery is created based on a purchase order or production order. This delivery is automatically replicated to EWM as an Inbound Delivery Order (IDO) via CIF or qRFC.

Once the IDO arrives in EWM, Warehouse Tasks (WTs) are created for unloading and putaway. The warehouse operator then executes the WTs, which move the goods from the staging area (Goods Receipt zone) to the final storage bin. During this process, EWM updates stock types (for example, from GR area to available stock) and monitors storage bin capacity and resource utilization.

Optional steps such as Quality Inspection, Deconsolidation, or Value-Added Services (VAS) can also occur between goods receipt and final putaway. Finally, once all WTs are confirmed, EWM posts the Goods Receipt (GR) in ERP, completing the inbound process.

This detailed process ensures accurate stock placement, traceability, and efficient warehouse operations — key benefits of EWM over traditional WM.
